Vacation Mathematics
Jul. 5th, 2007 09:36 amMy employers, in their infinite wisdom, have seen fit to give me 20 days of vacation a year. Scotland took 11 of that and an earlier jaunt to Vancouver took another day. That leaves me with 8 days left.
The summer looks awfully inviting, I have therefore booked 5 days off in the last week of August (August 27-31) off. This gives me an actual vacation time of August 25th to September 3rd. Excellent timing for a road trip!
First up will be Whipping Winds, an SCA event I've heard a lot about. It's down in the Incipient Shire of Windegate, Artemesia (Montana to you non SCAdians), on August 25.
From there, I'll drive to Vancouver and visit the folks out there. Having a car means not having a schedule, so I'll be arriving in Vancouver sometime around Monday the 27th. Coming back, I only have to be in Calgary by Monday (though I'm aiming at Saturday or Sunday, just to give me a day to reacquaint myself).
These dates are important because I'm offering rides to anyone who wants to go. You're under no obligation to keep me company while I'm in Vancouver, nor do you have to go both ways. So if you want a one-way trip to Whipping Winds with the possibility of a continued journey to Vancouver and/or a trip from Vancouver to Calgary, let me know.
Offer not open to strangers. Since I'm not f-locking this post, I thought it important to point that out.
And those last three days of vacation? I have to take March 31, 2008 off so that I can go to Cuba to watch
garething and
stephtopia get hitched. I'll be combining that with vacation days from my company's next financial year. That leaves two days. I'm thinking a Titanic trip to Victoria is in order. Need to consult with the one other person I know who'd be into that first though. I will be going to Victoria on Thanksgiving for my half-marathon, but I might not take any vacation days to do that though. We'll see.
If work offered me extra days off in lieu of a raise this year, I'd take it in a heartbeat.
