Jun. 28th, 2007 01:21 pmI've been feeling rudderless for the last few months. It's hit a high point now that my Scottish Adventure is over. I think it's because I've had no goals.
Goals are good. I need some goals. There's my Mission 101 list of course, but I'm finding it hard to motivate myself towards those (not that I'm quitting, just taking a break to catch my breath).
A good goal is something you actually have control over. I can't have, as a goal, "winning the lottery" or "getting a girlfriend". I could have "buy more lottery tickets" or "ask out more women" though - these are things I have control over.
Today I'm going to my first WW meeting in close to a month. I gained a lot of weight (somewhere between five and ten pounds) on my little trip, so my new goal is related to losing weight. I'm already on Weight Watchers (and it works, when I actually follow the program), but I want to go up a notch in my fitness.
I'm going to run the Royal Victoria Half Marathon. I have 14 weeks to train for it, and they conveniently have a 14-week "just in time" training program for it. So starting Sunday, I'm going to be doing a lot more running. More running means more calories burned. This might be just the thing for me to kill those last few pounds that have vexed me over the last year. I also have a score to settle with this race, since I went all the way there last year and couldn't compete.
