I was wearing a SCA tee shirt today. It read:SCA
Been there

got the T-shirt
XL Cryptic, which led to questions. First question, what's "SCA" mean. I explained and felt faintly ridiculous doing so. It makes more sense to be into medieval recreation in North America, were we never actually had a middle ages.
This led to my explaining that my persona was 13th century Scots/French - to F, my Scottish tour guide. Not sure how she took me play-acting one of her ancestors. I hope it didn't come off as patronizing.
I did get to show off a picture of me in my kilt. On the good side, It showed that I look pretty good in a kilt. On the bad side, it was my Black Watch kilt. The Black Watch was the unit formed to hunt down Jacobites. Not the thing you want to be showing to a Scottish Nationalist.
Oh, and the Black Watch, being formed in 1725, is not in period.
