Short version:
1) Won the archery tournament.
2) Saw lots of friends get awards, which is cool.
3) Got plenty of hugs from good looking women.
4) Spent quality time with
conejita_diabla (see #3, above), who drove me home.
5) Got liquored up because I didn't have to drive.
6) Still looking for booze that doesn't upset my wimpy stomach.
7) Showed off my legs.

But Strongbow would seem to suit you better!

Date: 2007-04-30 03:36 am (UTC)I find I like sweet drinks more, but they upset my stomach after awhile because it's too cloying. Daquiries or coladas I like and seem to be something I can drink a lot of, but they're way too complicated for an SCA bar.

And for most of the best Tiki cocktails you could easily just have a couple and be set for the evening - a real Mai Tai for instance has almost no mix (a squeeze of lime and some sugar syrup) and weighs in at 3 oz (From Trader Vic's website):
THE ORIGINAL FORMULA
2 ounces 17-year-old J. Wray Nephew Jamaican rum
1/2 ounce French Garnier Orgeat
1/2 ounce Holland DeKuyper Orange Curacao
1/4 ounce Rock Candy Syrup
juice from one fresh lime
Hand shake and garnish with half of the lime shell inside the drink and float a sprig of fresh mint at the edge of the glass.
... of course, if you do choose to put in some pineapple juice to cut this monster down to a manageable size, that can be tasty too.

Date: 2007-04-30 05:36 pm (UTC)i have a sweet tooth too... I like daquiries & coladas too... I drink Strongbow because it's the only "real" cider you can get here but I prefer Woodpecker which is a sweet cider you can buy back home.
my usual drink is Southern Comfort with sprite/7-up & often have trouble when the bar only has the basics like rum/rye/vodka etc.
Have you tried any of the coolers... I don't like rum but there are a few of the Bacardi Breezers I quite like... ditto with vodka & Mike's Hard Lemonade... I avoid all the Smirnoff coolers but that's because I got waaaay too drunk on Smirnoff Ice one time...
If you find something you like but the SCA bar doesn't carry it... you can always talk to Shane about adding it to the selection if he thinks others will like it too... or failing that you can buy your own & have the bar look after it... as long as you keep the receipt.

Just about everything else I've tried tastes revolting. The worst was the scotch Wilma was drinking at the event. After my eyes stopped twitching, I wanted to wash the taste out of my mouth with Buckleys.
