Happiness Without Velociraptors.
Jan. 7th, 2016 08:43 pmIt's a new year and of course I have resolutions. Most are the same old, same old (lose weight being my perennial favourite). I'd kind of like to be happy more often than not. And I'm not exactly sure how to accomplish that.
I can do more of the things I like. I like travelling. I like visiting my friends in Vancouver. I like gaming. I resolve to do more of that.
Can I find other sources of happiness? I guess there's two categories here: Things I'd like to do but can't, and things that haven't occurred to me.
The former is easy: relationships, sex, etc. I can't depend on any of that happening because they require someone else. Best to put them out of my mind.
So that leaves the latter, the stuff I don't know. Which brings me to the point of this entry - using my friends as a resource. What do you think I'd like that I could try this year? They should be stuff that I could plausibly do, so within (or at least near) my level of fitness, mental capacity, savings. Velociraptor racing would be right out.
So that's it. What have you got?
