Summer Travel Plans

I've booked my room for A/T War (June 21st-23rd), and also my suite on Commercial Drive for the week (June 23rd-30th)following. It's looking more and more like I'm going to be driving out there and back, though my druthers would be to get rides west and fly back home. Simply put, as I get older, the Calgary-Vancouver drive is getting more and more punishing - to the point where I am now breaking the route up with overnight stops along the way.

I don't like stopping along the way, it removes time from the vacation itself. I'd rather spend another day in Vancouver than spend a day cooling my heels in some small town hotel room. I probably have no choice though.

Well that's not entirely true. I could choose to simply make it part of the vacation. I can take additional time off and use the time to explore. For example, I wouldn't mind spending a day in Seattle. Or Coeur d'Alene, Or Nelson. You get the picture.

This will be a recharging vacation. Quiet time in a familiar city with my friends? Yeah I need that pretty bad right now.

So mostly firmed up, at least to the point where I know where I'll be. Still working on the details though.

Had an interesting discussion on Facebook regarding this. It would, sadly, involve me driving there and back, but:

• I would drive othelianna to Seattle, Sunday, June 30th.
  
• We would meet thebrucie and Allison (who would have already flown in to watch the Cubs lose).
  
• We'd spend two nights in Seattle, giving us a full day to shop.
  
• Nelson is 7:13 from Seattle, and 7:14 from Calgary. We'd probably spend two nights there.

So here's a very tentative timeline:

F June 21: Travel to Salmon Arm for Avacal/Tir Righ War.
S June 22: A/T War
U June 23: Travel from Salmon Arm to Vancouver.
M June 24: Ale and whores.
T June 25: Avenue Q?
W June 26: D&D Live at the Rio!
R June 27: Vancouver Brewery Experience?
F June 28: WWII Supers!
S June 29: Making damn sure I've seen everyone!
U June 30: Travel from Vancouver to Seattle.
M July 01: Site-seeing some seashells in Seattle by the sea shore.
T July 02: Travel from Seattle to Nelson.
W July 03: Force othelianna to be our Nelson tour guide.
R July 04: Abandon Rosie. Travel from Nelson to Calgary. Spend a single night in my own god damn bed.
F July 05: Dragonslayer setup.
S July 06: Dragonslayer.
U July 07: Dragonslayer tear down.
