Wedding Thoughts and Other Ramblings
Aug. 10th, 2010 09:47 amMy weekend was kind of interesting, despite the high degree of mundanity it contained. I don't feel I accomplished anything, and yet there was a lot of effort to it.
Friday was archery and I shot like ass. To the point where I was thinking about giving it up. I just can't seem to find that place where I was shooting really good a few short years ago.
Lucky Bob's bachelor party at Brewster's snapped me out of that incipient funk. I had a good time at that.
The next day I had intended to do a bunch of ugly chores I'd been putting off. Between sleeping in until the crack of noon and general apathy, they're still not done, though I did manage to make changes to the pole of my archery tent.
Sunday was
vilashna and LB's wedding. The wedding itself had a few logistical problems (things were running late), but the actual ceremony itself was pretty cool, mostly for the rightness of this couple getting married. Thankfully they didn't blow it with the two inevitable signs of marital collapse:
Hanging out with friends at the wedding was good, and the ceremony/reception ran late enough that I got to avoid the dancing, which suits me fine. Dancing can be fun, or it can trigger a wave of depression, depending on the circumstances. Partly this is just my mental problems. But it's also a big case that there are two kinds of dancing at weddings:
Anyway it was a good wedding and congratulations to the happy couple. Godspeed.

- Mashing the wedding cake into each other's face.
- Referring to one's spouse as "the old ball-and-chain".

But it's also a big case that there are two kinds of dancing at weddings:
- Dances with specific moves that require lots of practice and if you don't do them right you're stepping on people's toes and look as coordinated as a spastic orangutan on ice-skates.
- Just grooving to the music.
Anyway it was a good wedding and congratulations to the happy couple. Godspeed.
