Weekend Update - Brunch and Banff
Mar. 16th, 2009 09:31 pmI sit here, drinking a pint from Brewsters and reflecting on what was a fairly good weekend.
I'm still feeling depressed, but I think it's starting to ebb. Hopefully for a few months this time. I can tell because I've moved into the philosophical stage and out of the argue-with-me-I-dare-you stage. People can now say to me "You know people really do like you - they're not just making it up", and I actually believe them, plus I can reflect on why my mind treats everything in the worst possible light when I'm in that dark place.
Of course, the general source of my depression (weight, work, involuntary celibacy) remain, so it's only a matter of time before I get there again. Ugh. I wish I could simply fix the problem and be done with it.
Saturday I did some window shopping, then had a very late supper at the Keg, spending the gift certificate my sister got me for Christmas. It was Steak and a BJ day, so I at least got half of the deal. Possibly I'm a little to attached to something that really just is a joke holiday. I mean, if they had a minivan holiday, I probably wouldn't be that enthused.
At any rate, I went to the Keg, had the usual and sat quietly reading and enjoying my steak (and mushrooms neptune). The server was professional and cute, so she got a monster tip in the form of the remainder of the gift certificate. It's not like I paid for it.
Sunday, I slept in until brunch guests arrived. They arrived bearing gifts of deer sausage and sundry breakfast fare. About nine people showed up and we had a grand time enjoying brunch and being social. I hope this becomes a regular thing. In fact, we should do this again in a few weeks.
Others vacated after brunch, leaving those of us who were going to Banff. Supplies were assembled and we left for the land of grand mountain vistas and chocolate. In the car was myself,
thebrucie,
conejita_diabla and
otheliannna. We ended up meeting
thekillerb69 and
naughtynat07. We proceeded to do the Banff triathlon (restaurant, hot springs, chocolate). I won't bore you with the details, except to say that everyone seemed to have a good time. I'll probably go again next month. I need to get my Banff time in before SCA camping season starts. Next event I attend will probably be Winter War. My Winter War experiment continues. No clear results yet.
In other news, I had a glass of Malibu rum and now I'm pretty tipsy. Rather then blather on here, I think I'll go to bed.
