We (that is,
conejita_diabla,
thekillerb69 and myself) tried again at the shooting on Friday. We were somewhat more succesful at it. The two of them alluded to a bet that was made last year regarding the shoot. They were trying to decide on the stakes. I suggested dinner and wanted to know what I'd have to do to get in on the action. Neither of them were going to bet me directly but we did bet that I'd beat their combined scores. After about two hours going through the shoot, I did just that. Yay me - actually proving to myself I'm not useless. I don't know exactly how well I did, but I'd wager that I was in the top five for archers that day.
Along with the shooting, we discovered that we've got it pretty good in Avacal as far as archery goes. Not only do we have a really good talent pool, but the calebre of marshalling is much better then it is in Atenveldt. The Marshalls for the war shoots were (with the exception of the guys marshalling the speed targets) pretty lax, making what should have been an hour on the range two hours.
The good news is I got to know SA and BK, a couple from Lion's Gate better. They seem pretty cool and I'd like to get to know them better. We ended up hanging out in one large cohort for much of the event, and the event wouldn't have been so good without them.
The Kingdom of Caid party was Friday night. It was OK, but the exertions of the first four days was catching up on me. I went to bed early.
