Hiking, Sushi and Inadvertant Shouting
Aug. 18th, 2008 11:18 pmLast full day in Vancouver. Everyone was busy until the evening, so I entertained myself.
Step one was a trip to Calhoun's for breakfast (where I wrote my last post). Then I decided to walk east. I made it to Main street before I gave up and caught a bus/train to Metrotown.
I got to Metrotown around 3 and decided to have lunch. Calling
bognaustroglum, I found out that Sammy J. Peppers was nearby, so I went there. Sadly, I didn't realize that we were having a relatively early supper. I was expecting 9-ish, but an after-lunch call to
chris9871 revealed that it would be at 7. Whoops. This gave me a small amount of time to kill, which I spent lolling around Metrotown mall, snoozing with my mouth open and attracting flies.
Supper was at the famous Clubhouse, where we are remembered and treated royally by the server/owner, who is like an over-caffeinated ferret, but still nice - just hard to slow down.
I decided that drinking was in order, since my serotonin levels were back to normal after my unfortunate Quad War incident.
The Clubhouse was sadly, not air conditioned, so after supper a smaller group of us went to a pub near the university. I continued drinking.
The good news is, I was a happy drunk. I also lose some filters when drinking. I have two important ones, the TMI filter and the volume filter. Both died last night, yielding a situation where I was discussing porn, very loudly - much to the amusement of my table-mates.
Fuck it, I didn't know any of those people. Not my town.
I awoke surprisingly non-hungover. Sore though, owing more to the poor bedding at the University then anything else.
Last day was uneventful. Met folks for brunch. Wandered around Commercial Drive. Re-watched Dr. Horrible with some friends who had not seen it yet. Had a nice chat/therapy with
somejauntypolka. Caught a bumpy flight back to Cowtown.
All-in-all a decent trip to Vancouver. Only real downbeats where seeing that the Jolly Taxpayer had been destroyed (it's the sight of a new skyscraper) and I somehow managed to completely miss
kermie_canada and
spookiemonkie2.
Oh, and there wasn't nearly enough sloppy make-outs.
