Migraine Musings
Jul. 22nd, 2008 09:49 amIn a world with migraines, i think the perfect number of migraines to have is one. You'd think it was zero, but that would be a world without migraines.
I've had exactly one migraine in my life (probably ten-fifteen years ago now) and the thing it gave me that lasts to this day is understanding. Before that day (three days actually) when my friends would whine about their migraines, I'd just roll my eyes and think "Man-up Nancies - it's just a headache".
In all fairness, a lot of these people were whiners who loved to play the my-misery-is-so-much-greater-then-yours game - you know, where everyone tries to one-up each other after someone bitches about something. Monty Python famously skewered this before we even started.
Anyhow, I did discover that they were right in this case. Now when people tell me they have migraines I'm a wee bit more sympathetic. And I'm glad I never had another one.
