I Can Haz Accomplishments?
Jul. 6th, 2008 01:37 pmI managed to finish with an impressive (to other people) time of 58:02 57:58. Myself? I'd rather do better. I have done better.
It's an annoying quirk of my low self-esteem that accomplishments of this sort are opportunities to beat myself up over not being better. It shouldn't be. I managed to run the whole 10K of the race non-stop (with no portions walking). It wasn't the fastest running I've ever done, but it was running.
I did it on about five hours of sleep. I felt absolutely terrible this morning, until I started running. Now I didn't feel anything like good while running, but it did get the lungs moving and the heart pumping. When I finished (with a burst of speed to try and break the 58 minute mark) I did feel a rush of pride in having done it, and that didn't wear off for awhile.
Later I treated myself to breakfast at the Moxies of the Damned. I went home, had a long, blisteringly hot shower and then went back to bed for two hours.
I am stiff and sore, and have to work a few hours in the garage, but ultimately happy that I can still do a 10K the proper way.
I just might try the RV½M again.
