I just ran the Stampede Road Race. The race results are already up and my time was 53:32. A little slower then last time, but still a good solid showing.

My lower time is a result of the few extra pounds I'm carrying (due to Scotland) - I find there is almost a direct correlation between my weight and my speed. Lower weight - higher speed. More formally, a 1% drop in weight translate to a 1% drop in time to finish any given distance. This is why I think I stand a chance at a sub-50 finish - my goal weight is right in line with that speed. It's also why I'm never going to win any of these races. I'd need to lose about 40% of my current weight. I just don't think I'm ever going to weight 130.

The first half of the race was fun, but tiring. I found a nice behind to watch for the first half and it's owner was about my pace. Sadly she started to slow down at the turn-around point just as I got my second win. she started going slower and I started going faster. I decided to drop the perviness in lieu of more race focus.

Second half was really good. I woke up, loosened up and sped up. I finished the race strong (helped out by the terrain - the finish line was at the end of a slight downhill segment about 200 metres long).

As a spur-of-the-moment reward, I had Eggs Benny at the Moxies of the Damned.
