Asshole and Assholer
Jan. 9th, 2007 08:27 amI'm on the home stretch during my run this morning, and I'm crossing 53rd street at Dalhousie drive. This is a major intersection and there is a lot of pedestrian traffic. In fact, there are pedestrians ahead of me as I run up to the intersection.
I step out into the street and some asshole comes around the corner without looking to see if there is anyone there, almost hitting me.
Now this is a common enough occurrence that it doesn't bother me so much. I know the guy in the car doesn't give a rat's ass about my well-being, so I look out for them whenever I go into the street. I had to hop out of the way of his car (which was what I was prepared to do anyway). I gave him a dirty look to indicate that he should really watch where he was going.
He drove away, either thinking "OMG I almost hit someone, I should be more careful" or possibly "stupid jogger should stay out of the crosswalks". Either way I don't care and if that was the end of it, It wouldn't be worthy of a blog entry.
No, there was another guy in a pickup truck also turning the same way (but from the other direction). He felt the need to stop, roll down his window and laugh at me. It was like getting a drive by from Nelson Muntz. I've been driving for over a year now, and despite a few close calls and some poor behavior, this is the first time I've felt like keying someone's door.
It's always the guys in trucks.
