About to go for a run, in the dark. Believe it or not, I consider this "good".

Also going to go to work for a full shift. First time in a week. I'd much rather hang out with my visiting Vancouver friends. Not looking forward to it, but it's gotta be done.

Oh yeah, saw Eragon yesterday. It was a paint-by-numbers generic fantasy that rushed through all the cliches like they were on a check list. The only highlight was Sienna Guillory who has managed to knock one of the Kates off my list of three.

Ouch - Eragon _sounds_ awful.

SkyOne in the UK broadcast HogFather (http://imdb.com/title/tt0765458/) over this Christmas, and if you dig around there's a few rips out there. {It's not on DVD over here yet ... but I'll be buying a copy when it does appear!}

I had a ball watching it - but then again, I've been a Pratchett fan for years...

I wouldn't precisely call it awful (though others in the group who saw it yesterday would). It wasn't bad, but also wasn't good.

I've already got a pirated copy of Hogfather. I feel justified in this illegal action because it is literally the only way to watch it here in Canada.

I found the first two-thirds of the movie incredibly grating to watch -- your checklist analogy describes the impression I got better than I could. ("As rushed as a montage and too heavy on explanations," was I think how I put it.) I did somewhat like the armor designs and the dogfight choreography toward the end, but John Malkovich kept making me giggle.

The first time he (John Malkovich) came on screen and started chewing the scenery I too started giggling. Why this guy is considered one of the great actors of the current era is baffling - I've seen him in many films and he always substitutes bombast for subtlety.
