That was very well written. As you may know I work in a library. We hardly ever get people who cause a scene, but in the last month i've had about 7 or 8 people do that. It freaking irritates me to no end. Just last week I informed this man that he had a $2 fine, which he'd had for a year, because nobody else told him he had a fine. I've been having that problem too. You can still check out if you have $4 or less in fines on your account.

So I inform this man he has $2 in fines and he gets all irritated and says "what for?" so I look at the fine and find out it's from a year ago and it's for a late dvd. He tells me I'm wrong. He raises his voice and and tells me that he doesn't have late fines. He always returns his stuff on time. I calmly tell him that I'm only telling him what the computer is telling me. They don't seem to get it through their thick skulls that I'm not the bad guy. Everybody wants to shoot the messenger. So I tell him I'll waive his fine this one time and he gets angrier and ranting that he shouldn't be punished because our computer is wrong.

One thing to note is that people's memories are not infallible. In fact they are often inaccurate and misleading. Studies have been conducted on memory. Second, the computer is not fucking wrong. It logs shit. It's not going to suddenly for no reason at all go against it's programming to log some guys shit as late and then go back to it's programming. Therefore these stupid idiot's memories are wrong and I'd love to really tell them what I think, but no, at any time they could call managment and they could question my actions, so my actions must always be respectful and curtious, lest I get fired for some asshole that bitches to get was she/he wants.

I've had a lot of these guys in the last month and there pissy attitude of yelling at me to get what they want is really irritating me. They are not getting any freebees. I might waive that one fine, but then I make a note of it and that's it. They get another fine and they have to may it no matter what. It shows that the stupid asshole has been informed of the policy.

Sorry for ranting, but it just made me remember these people and they do this in a freaking library. Stupid, irrisponsible people blaming others for there own irrisponsibility. I Think I'm going to post this one to my blog too.
