A spokeswoman for the Westboro Baptist Church (The God Hates Fags morons) is interviewed on Fox News.
Amazing, the depths that people will sink too when brainwashed their whole lives.
I am a little annoyed at the media. Now that the WBC is picketting soldier's funerals, they go after them. Where were they a couple of years ago when they were targetting gay's funerals. It was just as heinous then as it is now. The feelings of the grieving families were just as hurt.

Sad thing is, though, in a way, there is a valid message in there, twisted badly. A worshipper of an omnipresent/potent deity pretty much has to thank said deity for everything that happens, no matter how awful it is or appears to be. If they were Christians, however, they'd know enough to express that message in private, rather than use it as a weapon to browbeat anyone else.
I'm not saying that they understand that particular meaning. They're all too eager to talk about righteous justice, which is silly. Their own scripture makes it clear that judgment doesn't come before death. What we do before that is entirely on our own heads.
From the sound of it, we're seeing extreme versions of wannabe pacifist martyrs, looking to provoke someone into killing them and bitter about the fact that no one will. (Sure, Christ warned that following him would make you unpopular, but maybe he should have specified that there were other ways to go about becoming thoroughly unlikeable that do not qualify one for the Fast-Track-to-Salvation Program.) Best not suggest where they might get better results, though.

Date: 2006-05-04 02:43 pm (UTC)Interesting how people are all about "the wrath of God" and whathaveyou and justifying hurtful actions against others as the "word/work of God". Then again, the world as a whole has fought many wars and many people have died over thousands of years for the same damn thing.
I wonder if that's what God had in mind. (assuming there is such a thing)
